August - Fairest of the Summer Months!

Fairest of the months!
Ripe summer's queen
The hey-day of the year
With robes that gleam with sunny sheen
Sweet August doth appear.
-- R. Combe Miller (circa 1780)

Whilst August yet wears her golden crown,
Ripening fields lush -- bright with promise;
Summer waxes long, then wanes, quietly passing
Her fading green glory on to riotous August.
-- Michelle L. Thieme (circa 1960?)

Hear ye! Hear ye!

As you may or may not know, I don't own LBLR anymore. The new owners are Monica and Tim Bluhm; they are super nice people and I'm sure you'll like them. They are running the resort basically the same way I ran it for those 26 summers.......except that they've made some improvements to the facility. If you were a regular customer, you'll enjoy vacationing at LBLR as much as you have in the past, maybe even more. If you haven't been there in awhile or maybe have never been there, try'll like it! Their new web-site is and you can get to it by clicking HERE. The resort phone number is still the same: 218-328-5037.

I'd like to thank everyone who stayed at LBLR during the 26 years that I owned the place, especially the regulars who stuck with me for so many years, and whom I miss immensely. Although I've left the area, I plan to spend a fair amount of time in the Grand Rapids area this summer, so there's a good chance that you'll see me there (and probably Deb as well).

As usual, click on the mailbox below if you'd like to comment. And above all, keep in touch if you don't mind.

PS:   For old-time sake, below is the LBLR web-site as it was when I left the resort in March of 2018, and most of the links still work, believe it or not.
